Richard Poth, Director of Spark Path
Richard's innovative vision was recently honoured with a 2025 Global Recognition Award. The award panel highlighted his "exceptional vision in identifying and solving critical challenges in global instruction" and described the library’s core innovation as a "paradigm shift in instructional methodology".
The Spark Path Microlesson Library is the solution to a critical gap in education that Richard identified over two decades of teaching and leadership. Designed for teachers, tutors, and parents, it provides a catalogue of lessons aligned with every international curriculum. The platform is groundbreaking because it uses AI to provide students with instantaneous, personalised feedback on creative tasks. This feature offers constructive criticism in real-time, helping students progress while saving educators countless hours.
This revolutionary platform is built on a foundation of over 20 years of hands-on experience. Richard's career began as a Year 5 and 6 teacher in the UK before he took on roles in international schools in Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea. As Head of Computing, Head of Digital Development, and a consultant, he pioneered the use of emerging technologies like AI, AR, and VR in the classroom and was instrumental in enabling online learning for his school during the lockdown using the Google Education suite. His deep understanding of educational needs is also informed by his current work as the CEO of Attech Edu Limited, where he tutors students with special educational needs, including neurodiverse students and those dealing with trauma and Down syndrome.
Richard's credibility is solidified by his expertise, which is described as "exceptionally rare" in the field. He is simultaneously an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Google Certified Teacher and Trainer, and an Apple Professional Learning Specialist. In this specialist role, he designed and led the strategic integration of Apple technologies, such as 1:1 iPad programmes, in schools across the UK. This platform-agnostic knowledge of Apple, Google, and Microsoft ecosystems gives him unparalleled insight into digital learning.
A passionate advocate for education, Richard has delivered over 150 workshops, coached countless teachers, and delivered keynote presentations at international summits. His mission is to inspire educators with creative ideas so they can help students achieve more than they thought possible. He credits his extensive, award-winning background in theatre for helping him become the successful and engaging educator he is today.
